These terms apply to adoptacooldog.com and to the emails and text messages we send. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
Who we are
Adopt a Cool Dog is a group of volunteers who promote dogs at Los Angeles animal shelters and help people find a dog to foster or adopt. We are not an animal shelter, a rescue, or Petfinder, and we don't own or house the dogs shown on this site.
Adoption and fostering
- Each dog is cared for by its shelter or rescue. That organization makes every decision about applications, fees, home checks, meetings, and placement.
- Our quiz is a guide to help you find a good fit. A quiz result is not an approval, and it does not guarantee you can foster or adopt any dog.
- Dog profiles come from shelter listings. Shelters often know little about a dog's history, health, or behavior, so details may be incomplete or out of date, and dogs may be adopted at any time. Ask the shelter about any dog before you commit.
- Links to Petfinder and shelter websites take you to sites we don't run. Their own terms and privacy policies apply there.
Text message program
- Program: Adopt a Cool Dog dog alerts. Texts about fostering and adopting, dogs that need homes, and follow-ups on your quiz.
- How you join: by checking the text message box on our form and giving your mobile number. Consent is optional and is not required to foster or adopt.
- Frequency: message frequency varies.
- Cost: message and data rates may apply, based on your mobile plan.
- Opt out: reply STOP at any time. You'll get one message confirming you've been unsubscribed and no more texts after that. To rejoin, sign up again or reply START.
- Help: reply HELP, or email [email protected].
- Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Texts may be sent using automated technology. If you change or give up your mobile number, reply STOP first or tell us so we don't text the new owner.
- See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information. We never share your mobile number or text consent with third parties for their marketing.
Email
If you give us your email, we may send you messages about fostering, adopting, and dogs that need homes. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Using the site
Give us accurate information, and don't use the site to harass anyone, collect other people's information, or interfere with how it works. You must be 18 or older to submit a form.
Photos and content
Dog photos and listing details belong to the shelters and to Petfinder, and we show them to help the dogs get adopted. The rest of the site's text and design belongs to Adopt a Cool Dog.
No warranties
We provide the site "as is." We do our best to keep it accurate, but we don't promise that dog information is complete, current, or error-free, or that the site will always be available.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Adopt a Cool Dog and its volunteers are not liable for any indirect or consequential damages, or for anything related to a dog, a shelter's decision, or a third-party site, arising from your use of this site or our messages. Your adoption or foster relationship is between you and the shelter or rescue.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use the site means you accept the changes.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
